How best to achieve success in business
Robin Sharma is one of the best experts in business leadership and staff. Nimble Pen and its ability to perform instructive fables (fables he calls spiritual) to leave a deep impression with his characters, the unforgettable Julian Mantle, have led to their books comprehensible reference material for me.
This week I finished reading his book “The leader who did not charge” (Grijalbo, 2010, translation by Sonia Tapia), a compendium of his thoughts on leadership developed in his many books and seminars around the world. The book you hold in your hands is the result of nearly fifteen years as a trainer of leadership in many of the businesses listed on the Fortune 500, including Microsoft, GE, Nike, FedEx and IBM, as well as the American Red Cross of the Young Presidents Organization.
Through its pages and following the custom of storyteller, the main character of this lesson Blake Davis, with the help of his mentor Tommy Flinn, learn the teachings transmitted by four scholars: Anna, a waitress in a large and luxurious hotel, Ty Boyd Former ski champion snow and currently owns a sporting goods store, Jackson Chan, a gardener who was a successful businessman and Jet Brisley, famous massage therapist in New York.
Apart from the fable, Sharma used acronyms, mnemonic technique to form a word consisting of the initials of others. Thus we can easily remember the lessons of these scholars, in order to become a true leader. In order to give a clear and faithful to this book, and thanks to the license that the author gives us to spread his ideas, I will be their protagonists to tell their experiences.
Tommy, you who are mentored Blake why we can all be leaders?
- To be successful everyone must consider himself the team leader, and you do not need an official, only the desire to be involved and committed to leaving a positive mark. Mother Teresa said it well, if everyone swept through the door of his home, the world would be cleaner.
- That is, how to be a leader you do not need a position of importance within a company?
- Right, the leadership has nothing to do with the material advantages. Leadership is about excellence in your work and your behavior. It is your job to perform superbly in the post that you are. To stimulate each of the people you work and you attend FREE-LIDER is a secret key, yet deeply forgotten, it does not take a position to lead.
- Blake, what are the main lessons that have given the four wise men?
- First I want to thank you for giving us this opportunity. Second, the lessons can be summarized in four principles.
- One for every wise?
- Yes, one for each scholar. 1) It does not take a charge to be a leader, 2) The turbulent times create great leaders, 3) The deeper your relationships, the stronger your leadership and 4) to be a leader, you must first be a great person.
