Unemployment Reduced but did not Create Jobs
It really has created jobs in the last quarter? Or unemployment has been destroyed? Let me explain. Data (LFS) published today by the National Statistics Institute (INE) show that in the last quarter was 14 000 fewer unemployed in Spain. Apparently good news. Does this mean that there has been job creation? Not necessarily: there are 74 800 workers or occupied less (74.8000 contributors least, by the way). And I wonder: where are they? “In the list of unemployment? Logic suggests that a person stops working, it becomes a stand, but the numbers do not add up and we see that, quite the opposite: there are fewer unemployed 14.1000.
Therefore, if there are unemployed, where are they? Have they become inactive, is a person who does not work because they can not – by age, disability, etc. – Or do not want? Did not think could be hypothesized that also part of those 14 100 people who have ceased to be unemployed are now inactive? That is, there is no possibility that someone who was not officially stop looking for employment, retires, is disabled, Trek, etc. and therefore officially not busy? If this were so, there would be much reason for optimism or to think green shoots.
